Terms of Use
Last updated: June 6, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and the individual operator of Arcwave ("Arcwave", "we", "us"), governing your access to and use of the website at arcwave.app and the audio streaming service it provides (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, you may use the Service only with the consent of a parent or legal guardian, and you need their permission to purchase a subscription.
2. What the Service is
Arcwave provides machine-generated (text-to-speech) audio narrations of serialized web novels, streamed chapter by chapter through the browser, together with features such as listening progress, bookmarks, and a catalog request system. The narration is automated; it is not a human performance and may contain pronunciation or rendering errors.
The catalog changes over time. Novels and chapters may be added, modified, re-rendered, or removed at any time — including in response to requests from authors, publishers, or other rights holders under our Copyright & DMCA Policy. We do not guarantee that any particular title will remain available.
3. Accounts
Parts of the Service work without an account. Creating an account (handled by our authentication provider, Clerk) unlocks the signed-in free tier, bookmarks, and progress sync. You agree to provide accurate information, to keep your credentials secure, and to be responsible for activity under your account. One account per person; accounts may not be shared, sold, or transferred.
4. Free tier and fair use
The free tier currently includes:
- First 10 chapters of every novel — streamable by anyone, no sign-in required.
- 10 minutes per day of chapter 11+ listening for signed-in free accounts, resetting at midnight UTC.
Quotas, chapter thresholds, and free-tier features are offered at our discretion and may change. Attempting to circumvent listening limits, paywalls, or playback controls — including through multiple accounts, automation, or request manipulation — is a violation of these Terms.
5. Subscriptions, billing, and refunds
Paid plans (currently a monthly subscription, and a separately offered lifetime option) remove the daily listening cap. Payments are processed by our third-party billing provider, Whop; we never see or store your full card details. By purchasing, you also agree to the processor's own terms.
- Renewal. Monthly subscriptions renew automatically each billing cycle until cancelled.
- Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from your account's subscription page; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle, and you keep access until then.
- Refunds. Except where required by law, payments are non-refundable. If you believe you were charged in error, contact support@arcwave.app and we will review it.
- Price changes. We may change subscription pricing with notice; changes apply from your next billing cycle.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- download, rip, record, scrape, or redistribute audio, text, cover art, or other content from the Service, or make it available to third parties;
- access the Service by automated means (bots, scrapers, bulk clients) or probe, overload, or interfere with its infrastructure;
- circumvent, disable, or interfere with access controls, listening limits, or billing;
- use the Service to violate any law or third-party right, or impersonate another person;
- abuse the request and voting system (spam, vote manipulation, unlawful or abusive submissions).
7. Your submissions
The Service lets you submit content such as novel requests, request notes, and votes ("Submissions"). You keep ownership of your Submissions, and you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and use them to operate and improve the Service (for example, showing a requested title with its vote count). You are responsible for your Submissions; we may moderate, edit for display, or remove them at any time.
8. Intellectual property
The web novels in the catalog are the literary property of their respective authors and publishers. Arcwave does not claim ownership of the underlying literary works. The Service operates a prompt notice-and-takedown process for rights holders, described in our Copyright & DMCA Policy.
The Arcwave name, site design, software, and the Service's own generated assets are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws and may not be copied or reused without permission. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to stream content through the Service for private, non-commercial listening. No other rights are granted.
9. Copyright complaints
If you believe content available through the Service infringes your copyright, follow the process in our Copyright & DMCA Policy. We respond expeditiously to compliant notices and maintain a repeat-infringer policy.
10. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. Narrations are machine-generated and provided for convenience; we do not warrant their accuracy or completeness relative to the source text.
11. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ARCWAVE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SERVICE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) USD $50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Arcwave harmless from claims, damages, and reasonable expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from your Submissions, your misuse of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may request account deletion via support@arcwave.app. We may suspend or terminate access (including accounts of repeat copyright infringers) for violations of these Terms, suspected abuse, or where required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 7, 8, and 10–15) survive.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current revision; material changes will be signposted on the site. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
15. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules, and disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, except where the law of your country of residence grants you non-waivable rights or venue.
